Which typing tests qualify?

Sign in to save a standard typing test lasting at least 30 seconds with at least 80% accuracy. Qualifying saved tests enter the rankings automatically; you do not need to submit a separate score.

Games, custom-text exercises, practice modes and multiplayer races have their own results and do not count toward this typing-test leaderboard. A guest test is useful practice, but an account is needed for saved community rankings.

How your place is calculated

Your best qualifying result in the selected period determines your place. Higher WPM ranks first, and accuracy breaks a WPM tie. Results with equal WPM and accuracy share a rank. The board shows up to ten accounts.

Usernames identify accounts consistently. A person can have more than one account, but each account needs a distinct username. Open a result to see its record time and test duration.

Choose a fair comparison period

Today begins at midnight UTC. This week begins on Monday at 00:00 UTC. All time includes qualifying saved results since each account was created. A daily or weekly board can change as new results arrive.

A shorter test, a familiar passage or different keyboard can affect a result. Treat rankings as a practice challenge, and compare your own tests using similar duration and settings when judging progress.

Turn a ranking into a practice goal

Choose a goal you can control: fewer mistakes, a steadier pace or greater comfort with a difficult key. Use a focused mode or beginner lesson to practice, then return to a standard test.

For a direct challenge with someone you know, create a private two-player race. For solo practice, choose a computer opponent from 1 to 100 WPM. Those race results stay separate from the typing-test leaderboard.

  1. Sign in and complete a standard typing test.
  2. Open Leaderboard and select a ranking period.
  3. Check WPM, accuracy and the test duration together.
  4. Practice one difficult skill before your next comparable attempt.
